Shin Sugawara

Shin Sugawara is a musician, wellness facilitator, and retreat creator based in Beppu, Japan. He is the founder of Solfeggio Ocean View Music & Wellness Retreat, where he combines music, sound healing, Japanese culture, nature, and mindfulness experiences for international guests.

Over the past 15 years, Shin has traveled and lived abroad extensively, visiting more than 35 countries and spending over 8 years overseas. His journey has included deep experiences in India, Bali, Thailand, and other parts of Asia, where he explored meditation, yoga, music, community living, and spiritual culture.

In India, he studied Indian music and practiced Vipassana meditation, while continuing his personal path in Ashtanga Yoga. He also lived in Ubud, Bali and Pai, Thailand, where he helped create community-based wellness and creative spaces.

As a musician, Shin has performed internationally and now teaches guitar, ukulele, handpan, and sound-based wellness practices in Beppu. He regularly offers sound baths, meditation sessions, and healing music experiences for both local and international guests.

Alongside his music and wellness work, Shin also creates inbound cultural and nature experiences that connect visitors with authentic Japanese lifestyle, hot spring culture, and mindful travel. Before focusing fully on retreats and music, he also worked internationally as a diving instructor.

After living in Beppu for the past 6 years, Shin is now dedicated to building a new style of retreat experience that blends Japanese culture, sound healing, wellness, and meaningful human connection for the next generation of conscious travelers.
